After writing the screenplay our next step was to begin
casting. We thought carefully about who
we wanted to act in our film as we wanted people who had prior experience with
acting so that our film would be high quality. We also wanted to choose people
who we thought would do a good job of bringing the characters we had developed
to life on screen. We also needed actors who were capable of performing
American accents.
Sheldon Rex- Ben Cartwirght
We chose Ben to play Sheldon as he had plenty of experience of acting through school productions and he also was how we pictured Sheldon looking like when we wrote the script. He was also able to perform a New York style accent which was crucial for the part as that’s where the film is set.

Reece Freeman – Jack Squires
We decided I should play the part of Reece Freeman as I have had much experience with acting before and had played a similar character for a performance at GCSE level drama. Also I am able to perform a gruff New York accent which we felt fit the character of Freeman very well. I was also able to offer a good contrast to Ben as I am bigger than him I am able to come off as more intimidating which is what we were after when making our film.
Sylvia Freeman – Lucy Cunnington
We chose Lucy to play our femme fatale character as she suits the role well. Although she had very little acting experience we were impressed with her performance in her own film that we decided to ask her to play Sylvia. She did a good job of playing the seductive character and we were happy with her performance. However she was unable to do an American accent so we had to write in the fact that she had moved from England, this was the only downside to her performance.

John Barnacles – Dan Cowie
Dan volunteered to play Barnacles as he wanted to have the opportunity to act in the film yet didn’t want a big part as he had never acted before so he suggested he would be best suited to the role of Barnacles. He managed to portray the character extremely well and we were both very pleased with his performance.

With all our actors cast the final step before starting
shooting was to find our locations.
